Notes from the Road Issue 005

Welcome to Notes From the Road—an inside look at desert happenings, things we’re currently into, and anything/everything in between brought to you by one of our owners and founders, Janelle. We don’t gatekeep here in the high desert, so if we love it, you need to know about it.

Ride the Wind

Our season opener bike night had an amazing turnout this month! Our friends Karma Dealers played in the parking lot, and folks rode in from as far as the low desert. Keep an eye out for our monthly bike nights this summer—you don’t need a motorcycle to join the fun, just come hang!

Dye Your Duds

We just got your duds back from the dye house, and most of them turned out great! Over-dyeing always comes with some unpredictability, but it feels so good to breathe new life into things you already own. We're already sampling colors for the next round—thinking reddish brown like redwood mulch and a red clay tone. And of course, we’ll always do black. This last round, we dyed 150 lbs of clothing!

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend is shaping up to be a fun one in Yucca Valley! The 71st Grubstake Days are here—a community tradition since 1951—with live bands, a beer garden, and local vendors. All Roads will be set up with fresh desert merch, so come say hi. The main event is Saturday, but don’t forget the free cookie contest in Pioneertown on Sunday (seriously—free cookies, go vote!).

Also on Sunday, Old Town Yucca Valley is throwing a block party with some of our favorite neighbors. At All Roads, we’ll have food from Citlali Tamales, permanent jewelry by Far West Jewelry, a magazine pop-up with Hi Desert Times, and espresso + cocktails from Joshua Tree darlings Más o Menos. The End and Acme 62 will have vendors too—it’s going to be a good one.

On Sunday, you will want to spend all day in Old Town Yucca Valley, as we are teaming up with our neighboring shops for a fun little block party. At All Roads, we will have food from Citlali Tamales, permanent jewelry by Far West Jewelry, a magazine pop-up by Hi Desert Times Magazine, and Joshua Tree darlings Más o Menos will be set up with espresso and cocktails.  The End and Acme 62 will also have vendors. More info here.

Now’s a great time to visit the hi-dez—we hope to see you at the shop!
